An entry is a template Starting Note expands into occurrences — individual cards in your daily feed.
Entries live in Spaces. The feed shows occurrences where the date is today or earlier and the status is pending. Completing an occurrence removes it from the feed; the entry itself remains and generates future occurrences on schedule.
Entry Types
Occasion
An annual date worth acknowledging — a birthday, anniversary, or personal milestone. Best paired with lead days so it surfaces in advance.
Reminder
A recurring commitment or check-in. Can be one-time or repeat on any schedule — daily, weekly, monthly, or custom.
Quote
A passage worth returning to on a schedule. Set a resurfacing rule and it cycles back around when the time comes.
Essay
Longer writing to revisit periodically. Useful for reflections, principles, or texts you want to sit with again.
Checklist
A manual list of steps with no scheduling rule. Checklists live in your library and don't generate feed occurrences — they're a reference or to-do list you work through at your own pace, outside the feed.
Resurfacing Rules
Annual (Fixed)
Surfaces on the same calendar date every year. Add lead_days to surface it N days before the anchor date with a countdown ("in 3 days").
Recurring (RRULE)
Daily, weekly (pick specific days), monthly by date or weekday, or one-time. Also supports lead_days for advance surfacing.
Plan / Sequence
Ordered steps surfaced one at a time, each with its own title and optional content. Two modes: Schedule-gated — steps appear on fixed dates. By default all steps are spaced by the global interval, but each step can override this with its own "Days after previous" value, making uneven patterns like M/W/F possible. Completion-gated — the next step only unlocks after the previous one is marked done, regardless of date. In the feed, each plan card shows the plan name above the step title and a row of progress dots so you always know where you are.
Feed Logic
The feed shows occurrences where status = pending and original_date ≤ today. Occurrences are generated automatically each day at 1 AM UTC covering a 7-day window.
Saving an entry in the editor triggers an immediate 90-day regeneration so new rules take effect right away. Rollover behavior controls what happens to occurrences you miss: Stop showing it (default) or Persist until completed.
Common Use Cases & Troubleshooting
Birthday with advance notice
Entry type: Occasion. Rule: Annual, March 10, lead days = 7. Result: appears March 3–10 with a countdown each day.
Weekly Friday check-in
Entry type: Reminder. Rule: Weekly, Friday. Set rollover to "persist until completed" if you might miss a week.
Monthly quote resurfacing
Entry type: Quote. Rule: Monthly by date, day 1. Result: appears on the 1st of every month.
M/W/F training plan
Entry type: Plan / Sequence, schedule-gated. Set start date to a Monday, global interval = 7. Then for each step, set "Days after previous": Step 2 = 2 (Wednesday), Step 3 = 2 (Friday), Step 4 = 3 (next Monday), and so on. Steps without a custom value fall back to the global 7-day interval.
5-step onboarding plan
Entry type: Plan / Sequence, completion-gated. Add your 5 steps with titles and optional content, then save. In the feed, each step card shows the plan name, a row of progress dots with the current step highlighted, and the step title. Mark it done and the next step appears automatically.
Reference checklist
Entry type: Checklist. No scheduling rule needed — it lives in your library as a static list. Open it whenever you need it; it won't appear in your daily feed.
Entry not showing up
Common causes: lead days = 0 with the anchor date still in the future; quick-add does not set lead days (open the editor and re-save); or occurrences have not been generated yet (re-save from the editor to trigger a 90-day regeneration run).
